Choo Kwa Ventures is a business which offers Canoe Tours along the scenic Somass River or the beauty of Sproat Lake while hearing the history, stories and songs of the Hupacasath, the original peoples of the Alberni Valley. Upon returning from your tour, you are offered barbequed salmon, cooked over the open fire in our traditional way and have an opportunity to browse and purchase artistic works made by First Nations people. Artistic works range from carvings in cedar, cedar and grass basketry, silver and gold jewelry, clothing and drums. This business benefits the client by providing a unique insight into First Nations way of life, hearing history and songs first hand, experiencing nature first hand as often fish runs, bears, and eagles ,eagles as well as other wildlife can be spotted can be spotted quite regularly on our tours. Clients often rave about the experience as being one that they would not have found elsewhere especially when they are treated to to the succulent salmon dinner.
